Wallace Grade School
The Wallace School family learns and grows together.
Per the Executive Order from Governor Pritzker: Wallace Grade School will now be closed through Thursday, April 30th. School will tentatively resume on Friday, May 1st. Please be aware that May 1st will be a full day instead of an 11:30 dismissal. We will continue to update our parents of any changes as things move forward.
As you all know, we are now utilizing Remote Learning Days moving forward. All student instruction will be done electronically throughout this timeframe. You can visit www.wallacegs.org > Online Learning for more information regarding the remote learning opportunities that our teachers are providing.
Schedule & Calendar (Days Off)
Per our regular school calendar, there will be NO remote learning/online instruction on Friday, April 10th or Monday, April 13th (Good Friday & Easter Monday). In addition, we will be utilizing Remote Learning Planning Days on Fridays throughout April (April 3, 17, and 24). On these planning days, teachers will be preparing and planning their materials/instruction, and there will be NO remote learning/online instruction for students.
Free Lunch Pick Up
During the state-mandated school closure, Wallace Grade School will continue to offer free lunches for the days that we would have originally been in session for anyone in need. We will have a drive-thru pick up each Monday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Parents can pull up to the main office entrance and a volunteer will meet you at your vehicle to drop off the lunches. There is no need to sign up for lunches, you can just come on that day to pick them up!
The school office will be CLOSED starting on Friday, March 20th at 12:00 pm. The office will reopen after Governor JB Pritzker’s mandatory stay at home order.
All business related inquiries can be directed to Mike Matteson, Superintendent at firstname.lastname@example.org and all other building related inquiries can be directed to Joe Landers, Principal at email@example.com.
Our Vision & Mission
Wallace Grade School exists in order to serve the educational needs of the children of the district. Our employees strive to provide a well-rounded educational experience that prepares students to become contributing adults and builds self-confidence. We work to create an environment for learning that is safe, positive, encouraging, and enjoyable. We are committed to challenge each student with high expectations for learning and success. Children will be actively engaged in their learning. We need the support and cooperation of caring and concerned families to accomplish our goals. We must protect the best interest of all of the residents of our district. That includes decision making based on input from different sources and exercising fiscal responsibility. Mutual respect, communication, and cooperation are the keys to a healthy learning environment. We have to work together to provide the best program for all.

Cancellations and Closings
We will utilize a phone notification system, AlertNow, to communicate emergencies and school closings.
It is imperative that you keep the school informed of all phone numbers where you may be reached.
You may also tune in to WCMY 1430 Am or check the internet at www.mywebtimes.com between 6:45 and 7:45 A.M. for notice of school closings if the weather is questionable. In addition, notifications will also be posted on Twitter and Facebook (@ottawawallace).
Occasionally, it is necessary to alter a bus schedule. When these circumstances occur, attempts will be made to notify parents of any unscheduled early dismissals or late starts.
